Valentine's Day Weekend

Justin and I had planned to go to Atlanta to check out the area and look at some housing options on Friday, but that didn't happen due to the snow! We couldn't complain because it was just so beautiful! I did miss that dessert though! (We'd planned to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and I could already taste it!) We'll reschedule in a few weeks. We had a Valentine's lunch date on Friday in Hartwell instead.

We stayed in all of Friday and Saturday, except when we tromped through the snow.
Here are a few photos:

After the snow, Justin made some yummy blueberry pancakes!!

The second half of Saturday, I was consumed with a terrible headache and slept a good part of the day. I feel for people who get migraines. I rarely get them and I just cannot function. Sleep is my only option. So if you get them, bless your heart. It's awful!

Sunday, Justin let me sleep in and didn't wake me. I felt so much better on Sunday morning when I woke up. We ate lunch with his family and then came back home. We didn't do gifts, we never really have. Justin washed and vacuumed out my car (which needed it so BAD and made me so HAPPY,lol) and I made some homemade brownies. Our mama's spoiled us with little gifties and candy so we did get some of that :-)

Overall it was a great Valentine's Weekend!

News

I have been such a slack blogger lately! Must do better!

We received some news last week. I found out that I got accepted into

and will be starting this summer! It's an accelerated track to becoming a Nurse Practitioner so I am getting ready to say goodbye to my freedom and trade it in for books! But I really couldn't be happier, I've missed school. (Nerd!)

Anyway, lots of decisions have to be made in the near future. We have to find Justin a job. I pray for a good one that he loves, and I wish he could use that five year college degree he worked his butt off to get, but in these economic times that may still be too much to hope for. We need to find somewhere safe to live that we can afford. We're not familiar with the area and are going to go out and do some investigating soon.

Hope you all have a happy Valentine's Day!

50 Years

Justin's precious grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 20th. Today we celebrated this great occasion!

Are they not the cutest?!? It was a great day and such an honor to celebrate with them! They will always be an inspiration for us!

Weekend Recap

Since our weeks seem to be pretty monotonous, I thought I'd just blog about our date day last Friday.

Because the post office failed to successfully do so, Justin and I drove to Atlanta to hand deliver some application material that was due that day to Emory. Long story short: my entire application packet was lost which included letters of rec and transcripts. We had to round them all up on Friday and then drive them out there. It was a pain, the post office is still clueless as to where it went, and I'm still bitter with them, lol, but we salvaged the day and made it fun.

We went to Atlantic Station and had lunch here:

It was most delish!

Then we saw:

for the second time. Yes it's THAT good! (I was skeptical, but it's amazing!!!)

This time we saw it in 3D.

Me and my lovely 3D glasses :-)

Then we walked around the Station. It's very neat! For supper we ate at:

It is my new favorite! The menu is huge, they really have everything under the sun! Our meal was so so good and our dessert was amazing! The best I have ever had!!! Godiva chocolate cake with vanilla and coffee ice cream, hot fudge, nuts, and a cherry! I can't find a photo to do it justice! Just thinking about it is making my mouth water!

Boring

I wish I had something exciting and interesting to post, but I don't.

Things are back to normal as all of the holiday festivities have passed. I can't say I'm too bummed. It's nice not to have fifty million things to do or places to go. We've actually been able to enjoy our weekends!

We're addicted to the Wii. And we're not ashamed of that, lol. It's taken us back to the glory days of Gameboy and Ninetindo. :-)

I'm getting anxious waiting on news from schools. I know it's all in God's timing and that it may not be in His plans for me to start school this year, but I'm ready to know. Ready to know if we'll be moving and if so where to and what route I'll be going with school. I'm trying to be patient.

We had revival at our church last night. They are doing it a little differently. It's the four Wednesdays this month instead of four nights in a row. It's perfect for me because I'd of missed out otherwise due to work. (I work late on Mon and Tues nights). We really enjoyed it, and the food was out of this world. I heard someone say it's the best five dollar meal in town and I'd have to agree. I've missed that cooking that I grew up on! (The fantastic cook kept me while I was little!) I spent a lot of time at that church with my second family between VBS, Day Camp, Church Basketball, Wednesday night meals, and Sunday visits. And it feels so comfortable which makes me happy. Justin and I have said a lot of prayers in hopes of finding a church where we could put down roots, and we're blessed to have found it.

Other than that there's not much to tell.So as you can see my life is a bit boring at the moment. But in this case, boring is good. I like this boring!

Not Again?!?

I am full fledged sick AGAIN. This makes three times this winter. I'm about to go crazy... and get worried.

No resolutions for me. I always break them. I would like to get in better shape and eat more healthy, but I always want that for myself and never seem to achieve it. Maybe in 2010, or maybe not lol.

I've enjoyed reading all of your resolutions and wish you all the best!

I can't think of anything else to say so I'll just post our family Christmas shots:

I adore this photo. We actually got Jackson to look at the camera!

I love this photo as well!

One with the nephews and niece in it and even though I felt so bad on Christmas Eve, I so enjoyed watching them.

The Kotal family with our new addition Will ;-)

We never get a Hicks family photo. I'm not sure why, lol. But here's one of MaMa and her grands.

And our new little family. :-)

Off to find some medication!

Happy 2010!

This still sounds so strange and odd, but we'll get used to it, just like we do with each new year!

We had a wonderful Christmas. It was such a great "first" Christmas together. One we'll certainly never forget! Justin racked up with a new TV and Wii. We've had the best time with the Wii! I got a new laptop that I love! My old one was shot. I'll post some Christmas photos soon.

We are still battling the ick that is going around. I didn't think we'd get it twice in one year, but we both did.

Not much else to tell. Hope you enjoy this first day of this brand new year! Be sure to eat your greens and peas to earn your "money" and "change" for the year ;-) We just ate one meal with my family and will eat and play games with Justin's tonight!
