lazy weekend for once. It was so lovely.
I read Nicholas Spark's new book. 
It was so good. Soooooo good. There's nothing like a good book. I started it Saturday morning and finished it Sunday night, I just couldn't put it down.
I also helped Justin finish re-potting our green house plants from my grandfather and great-grandmother's funerals.
Of course, we watched the GA game. GO DOGS!
I literally spent most of my weekend in my jammies. It was so nice.
This week is a short week. We don't have class on Friday due to Fall Break. All I have is a paper due which I knocked out earlier tonight. So I hope I get a few more restful days in!!!
Oh and how about this cold weather?!? Me no likey!

With Halloween approaching, my roommate and I had a discussion about our favorite candy a few weeks ago. I've been craving two things we discussed since then, and I can't find them anywhere.
One is crybaby bubble gum. I love anything sour. Do you know what I'm talking about? They look like this: 
The other is Smarties Lollies. They've always been a favorite. They look like this:
Have any clue where I can get either one of them? I've looked online and found them, but shipping is 9 bucks or so and that's just ridiculous!
I realize that it is quite sad that I am blogging about candy, but I have a sweet tooth. And when I get a craving, it's all downhill from there.

Not much to report here. I have a genetics test of Friday so that's what I'm devoting this week to. I have NO TESTS next week (first time all semester!) so I'm really looking forward to this weekend.
It's beginning to look a lot like... HALLOWEEN! It's my roommate's favorite holiday so we're very Halloweeny. I would take some photos, but my camera is at home.

Ma had a wonderful turnout at the visitation and funeral. I'm keeping my mind on other things at the moment, or attempting to, so that I don't spend my entire days crying. I'm struggling a lot at the moment, to be honest (with you and myself).
Yesterday, Justin and I planned to do pumpkin carving with my cousins to help distract them from all the sadness. Thought I'd share some photos:

Ma's visitation is from 6-8 on Thursday evening at Strickland's and the funeral is 11 at Mt. Olivet.
Flowers are optional (last time we had over 75 so I'm anxious to see what rolls in this time...) and donations can be made to Rainey Hospice House (my preference because members choose the church) or Mt. Olivet.
If anyone wants to do me a big favor or do something that would mean alot to me, go to http://www.stricklandfh.com/ and sign the guest book (Coven "Ma" Bailey). I regret not making a scrap book when Papa died so I want to get it right this time and I think it would be neat to use people's comments from the guest book. Be sure to mention me :-) I'll love you forever.
I have two exams, one today and one tomorrow and I am having an extremely hard time studying and focusing, so please pray for me in the next few days. I just want to get home to my family.

Ma Bailey (my 103 year old great-grandmother) went to Heaven this morning around 3AM.
She's waited to see her husband (who was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver) for over 60 years. She has a daughter, several siblings, parents, grandparents, and countless friends, and of course my Papa who was like her son. Can you imagine how Heaven greeted her?
My heart is crushed. This woman taught me so much about life including how to get back up when you've been knocked flat on your face. She showed me what true love is and how to be a wonderful mother and friend. She'll continue to live inside of me, but my world will never be the same.
I keep thinking that she finally has new knees and that makes me smile. As she told me once "If I knew God was going to let me live this long, I'd of got knee replacements at 92." Well now she can dance down the streets of gold.

I thought I'd take a little time to catch up with my blog. WARNING: LONG POST ;-)
My birthday ended up on a good note. My mom and dad and Justin and I ate at Outback, one of my favorites! Then we all came back to my apartment to have cake and I opened a few gifts from my roommates.
Jenny gave me the neatest panoramic photo book of Australian scenery 
and Nicholas Spark's new book The Lucky One 
which I can't wait to read! Lauren gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure 
and manicure!!! I also got a beautiful Bible cover 
and a tee shirt 
that I've really been wanting. Not only does the purchase of this shirt donate money to Stand Up 2 Cancer, it also gives me a way to give tribute in my grandfathers' honor. Everyone else just gave me money because that's what I asked for. I'm a broke college student after all! :-)

Friday morning I got a haircut. See below for evidence.
Justin and I went on a birthday date on Friday night! We ate at Casa Mia (http://casamiatapas.com/). It's a tapa restaurant in Athens that is so yummy! Then we went to see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (http://www.nickandnorah.com/), which was good. It was fully in a silly way.
Saturday morning we went to the Botanical Gardens. I had an assignment that required going out there for my Medicinal Herbs and Plants class. I love going though. It's so pretty. We snapped some good photos:

Then Justin, J, and I headed to the UGA vs. TN game. It was good. No big plays really, but still the dawgs won and that's all that matters.

However when we got back to my car we found a bit of a surprise:
My car minus the driver side window. Surprisingly, the only thing they took was my set of keys which were attached to a little Vera Bradley ID wallet. We think they must of assumed there was money in there. They were probably highly disappointed when they opened it up to see nothing was in there at all. So I'm without my car for a week while my uncle orders a new window and installs it (Wilhite Body Shop- if you need any body work- he's the best ;-) I hate driving other people's cars 9driving one of my grandmother's vehicles), but at least I have one to drive AND they didn't take the three ACTUAL wallets, nice sunglasses, and PDA that was also in my car AND they only busted one window. Yes, I'm going for the glass half full approach which hasn't been the easiest.
Overall though, it's been a good week. :-) Getting ready to start another...

8. Hearing stories from "the good ole days" - my Papa and Ma were the best at telling these so memories will have to suffice for the most part- but my grandmothers and Justin's occasionally tell me some and I love them.
9. Seeing an e-card in my inbox.
10. Taking a nap on a rainy afternoon or going to sleep while it's raining out.
11. Being around children, especially my wonderful cousins. Their innocence is refreshing, and they always make me smile.
12. Finally, the feeling of having to do NOTHING. It's such a rare treat.

I was born at 4:05 AM, lol. Seems crazy to think that I'm 21.
I'm having a hard time with my birthday this year. It's my first one without my Papa. He used to always call me and say "Happy, happy birthday doll." He never forgot a single one. It doesn't really feel like my birthday without him. I miss that man so much. 
Thankfully, my parents and Justin are coming to Athens to take me out to eat tonight so that I don't have to be all alone. Bless them.

Big time. I think my brain hit a wall today and said enough is enough. Granted I've practically been studying genetics all weekend, but this stuff is hard, complicated, and the tests are super tricky!
I've been in school, going on three years, non stop. I've never taken a semester off, not even a summer. What was I thinking? If I can get through this current semester and next alive, I'll have completed a four year science degree from the University of Georgia in three years. Yes, I'm nuts. Very very nutty.
I cannot wait to graduate, even though I will be rewarded with more school (graduate school). I think I deserve a big fat trip for graduation. It can serve as a "you did pretty good" and a "motivation to do better in graduate school." How about Ireland? Mom? Dad? Oh grandmothers...
So I realize I'm about to reveal to the world what a nerd I am, but here goes. I plan trips. That's right. Trips that I know I cannot afford to go on or have the time to go on at the moment. I plan them. I find flights and accommodations, and tons of things to do while I'm there. I'm currently planning a trip to Ireland. I've always wanted to go there. It's so green and pretty.

2 days left on the birthday countdown!
October. 
It's one of my favorite months (but then again I'm a bit partial... my birthday is next Tuesday!).
I finally finished my part of my applications, although I can't say I'm quite done. I still have to keep calling to make sure all my mail-in stuff makes it (letters of recommendation, transcripts, ect).
Not much else to report. Things are consistently busy- with school there is ALWAYS something to do.
I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. I have a genetics test to study for, but other than that I plan to get some R&R. I also want to watch the Auburn vs. Vanderbilt football game- it ought to be a good one. Glad the bulldogs get a week to rest and regain composure.
