Anybody else catch...

Oprah? I haven't watched in years but heard all the hype on the news this morning and set my DVR to record. WOW! (If you missed it and haven't heard, Oprah has a 1/2 sister that she never knew she had. Her mother gave her up for adoption without telling any of her children). It's amazing that the sister never sold her "story" to the tabloids. Oprah annoys me at times, but I admire the way she told the world about her new sister and has welcomed her into her family. Adoption stories always hit home for me so of course I cried.

Five on Friday

I loved J's 5 on Friday post and decided to try my own! (J, you inspired me to buy that detergent!)

1.

Best book I've read in a long time!! It's definitely a must read!

2.

Rips! Love this candy! I never get tired of them :-)

3.

9 x 13 Pyrex with a lid. Justin's mom gave us this for Christmas and I love it! We cook a lot of casseroles and it's so nice to just pop a lid on it and put it in the refrigerator!

4.

I love my Holmes Heater fan! I bought it in college for my dorm room but have actually used it more this year than ever. My husband is the king of the thermostat and is all about saving money on the power bill, but he approves of my heater because it only heats small spaces (like a room instead of a whole level of the house) and you can set it on a particular temp and it will cycle on and off. It keeps me warm!

5.

I got this Babyliss ceramic hair blow dryer for Christmas and love it! It dries my hair so fast and leaves it so soft!!

And there you have it, five of my favorite things at the moment!

Real Life Resumes Soon

After 6 weeks off, school will be starting back this week, with tomorrow being last day off until Spring Break in March. This semester my clincals will be at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for pediatrics and Emory Healthcare (John's Creek) for maternity. I'm really looking forward to maternity, but I hope peds buzzes right by. I love kids, but I don't want to work with them, especially when they're so sick.

No other news here, hope everyone stays warm this week!

2011

I remember when I was little and 2000 seemed so far away, much less 2011!

I've been a lazy blogger, I'll admit, but I'm really enjoying my (dwindling) time off from school! So here's a quick recap since my last post:

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and the bride was GORGEOUS! It was a wonderful day for everyone and I'm so excited for the newlyweds. They are a precious couple and I'm so glad that they found each other. :-)

Christmas was wonderful! See FB for photos, hence the laziness ;-) Justin got a kayak and he is still ecstatic about that. He's wanted one for a long time, so I've been saving for a long time and went in with my parents. Seeing his face made me so happy. It really was a wonderful Christmas season and 7 family Christmases later we feel fulfilled, loved, and very blessed.

We spent our New Year in Jamaica. It was beyond fabulous and exactly what we needed. Justin was not able to get a vacation in 2010 due to starting his new job in Atlanta and he was really burnt out. School had fried my brain so it was so nice not to do anything. He played lots of volleyball, I laid out and read four books (I drink them up while I can when school is out), and we sailed a good bit (Justin's new found hobby). I'll try to post photos somewhere soon. We're already talking about saving for next time!

So all in all 2010 was a great year. I learned more about being a wife, we moved to a new town that we surprisingly love, and I went back to a school that I love.

So I never make resolutions because I never keep them, but here's some plans/wishes for 2011:

1)Obtain my second bachelor's degree in nursing and begin my coursework towards my masters.
2) Travel more with my husband. It's something that we really enjoy. We'd rather never go out to eat and be able to travel. This includes camping and hiking. I got a sleeping bag for Christmas so I'm officially good to go!
3)I would say get in shape because I know that I should, but I really hate exercising. So my wish is that I find a form of exercise that I actually like or don't hate at least.
4)Finally, remember that the time we're given with our family is not always as much as we'd like and enjoy spending as much time with my family as possible.

Happy 2011!

Someone very special is getting married tomorrow! I am so excited and thrilled to be a part of her special day! I pray that tomorrow is everything you've dreamed of and planned for and a trillion times more. I love you!

Thanksgiving

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I completely blew off school (which I'll pay for next week, lol) and had a great time with my family. My mom, aunts, and cousins and I went Black Friday shopping in Buford. We found lots of great deals, and I'm practically through with Christmas gifts. Of course it helped that we're only doing parent gifts this year, we aren't even exchanging gifts between Justin and I (because if it's God's will, we're going on a TRIP right after Christmas, PTL!). I've even wrapped them all and have them under the tree!

Prayer request for my mom. She's having surgery on Tuesday. She's very very nervous and has some other things going on that make things a bit more complicated. She's having the surgery done at Emory, which is helpful for me because I can be right there to see her. Just pray that everything goes well with no complications.

I'm counting down the days till the 13th, my last final! There's a lot going on between here and there so I pray that things go smoothly and quickly! Of course there is someone special's wedding in there somewhere that I'm super excited for and plan to enjoy every minute! ;-)

Happy (almost) December!
